A 3-minute walk from Kusatsu Station, 20 minutes by train to Kyoto

Kusatsu Estopia Hotel is a city hotel a 3-minute walk from JR Kusatsu Station. Kyoto Station is about 20 minutes away on the JR Biwako Line special rapid service, so you can put together a trip that keeps lodging affordable in Kusatsu while sightseeing in Kyoto and around Lake Biwa. It is also an easy drive to the Karasuma Peninsula, home of the Lake Biwa Museum.

KID'S BOX and baby-gear rentals

The KID'S BOX lent out at the front desk contains picture books, toys, baby wipes, foaming baby soap and mini hangers - a relief when your child has run through the toys you packed, or when you have forgotten your bath things.

A diaper pail, a children's toilet-training seat and kids' pajamas are also available to borrow (all in limited numbers). A crib is a paid rental at 2,000 yen including tax, and an extra bed is 3,300 yen. Every guest room has an air purifier with a humidifying function, and the hair dryers and shower heads are ReFa models.

A nursing room on the second floor (with a diaper-changing mat)

There is a nursing room on the second floor, fitted with a diaper-changing mat. Having a place inside the building to look after a baby - during your stay, and also while you wait before or after check-in - is a reassuring feature for a hotel right by the station.

Familiar Room - a 240 cm-wide low bed on a wood floor

The hotel has 73 Western-style rooms. The one suited to families is the Familiar Room (15 rooms), where two semi-double beds are put together into a 240 cm-wide low bed made up as a single sleeping surface, set on a wood floor. Because the bed is low and has no gap down the middle, co-sleeping is easy and there is less worry about falls.

Co-sleeping costs 700 yen per child, and it is not available when a twin room is used by a single guest.

No communal bath - only the guest-room bathroom

There is no communal bath, onsen, sauna or private-hire bath on the property. Bathing is in the bathroom in your guest room.

Dining: kids' plates and private Japanese rooms

The restaurant Riviere serves a kids' plate (1,580 yen) with seasonal soup, Hamburg steak, sausage, potatoes, fried shrimp and warm vegetables, plus bread or rice and a dessert.

The Japanese restaurant Aobana has private rooms with tatami seating, sunken-floor (horigotatsu) seating and table seating, so you can eat with children without worrying about other guests. Please check whether food allergies can be accommodated when you book.

Breakfast is served at the restaurant Riviere, and there is a children's rate of 1,300 yen for ages 4 through elementary school.
