Hirugami Onsen Yurui no Yado Keizan is a 47-room hot-spring ryokan on high ground in the Hirugami Onsen village of Achi-mura, known for having the finest starry skies in Japan. It is certified as a Welcome Baby ryokan by the Mikihouse Child Care Research Institute, and the 12.5-tatami Japanese-style rooms in the Koranei wing are the certified rooms. Guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms and Japanese-Western rooms in the main Keizantei building and the newer Koranei wing; dinner is served in a private dining room and breakfast in either a private dining room or the banquet hall. A private-hire bath that holds up to 8 people lets the whole family soak together without worrying about other guests. Up to 5 children can co-sleep, and children's meals are set by age group.
Rooms
The ryokan has two buildings, the main Keizantei and the newer Koranei, and because every guest room is on the 4th floor or above, all of them look out over the clear waters of the Achi River and the Hirugami Onsen village. Keizantei Megumi no Ma has a 10-tatami Japanese-style room plus a 2-tatami entry area and sleeps 2 to 5 guests, while Koranei Nozomi no Ma has a 12.5-tatami Japanese-style room plus a broad window-side space and sleeps 2 to 6 guests, roomy enough for a family to lay out futons side by side. Keizantei Yurui no Ma in the main building has a 12.5-tatami Japanese-style room plus an adjoining room, sleeps 2 to 8 guests, and comes with a view bath with a large window looking out over the Hirugami Onsen village (this is not an in-room open-air bath). The layout of the adjoining room varies by guest room. The top floor of the Koranei wing also has a Japanese-Western room (a 10-tatami Japanese-style area plus a living room, with twin beds). The Japanese-modern rooms renovated in February 2023 are designed for smaller parties: Keizantei Zen has one king-size bed for 2 to 3 guests, and the twin type has two semi-double beds for 2 guests. Every room is non-smoking, and humidifiers are available to borrow.
Dining
Dinner is served in a private dining room, where you can choose between irori hearth cuisine (cooked at a traditional sunken hearth) and a regional kaiseki course. Breakfast is served in either a private dining room or the banquet hall, and the venue cannot be chosen. There are 3 private dining rooms in the building. Children's meals are set by age group: upper elementary school children pay 70% of the adult rate for a menu close to the adult one, and lower elementary school children pay 50% of the adult rate for a children's menu. Food allergies can be accommodated if you contact the ryokan in advance, and since Rakuten Travel's listing describes this as accommodating requests as far as possible, please confirm before booking how far ingredients can be removed. Dinner service ends at 9 p.m., and breakfast is from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

The spring water is an alkaline simple sulfur spring with a pH of 9.7, giving it a silky feel on the skin. The communal bath is open from 11 a.m. until 9 a.m. the next morning, the open-air bath from 11 a.m. to midnight and again from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the steam sauna from 3 p.m. Both the men's and women's communal baths have handrails and a ramp. On the 1st floor there is a private-hire bath, Onrinoyu (only you), which holds up to 8 people; it costs 4,000 yen including tax for 40 minutes, is available from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and is booked either by phone in advance or at the front desk on the day. There is a handrail inside the bathtub as well. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may enter the communal bathtubs is not published, so please contact the ryokan before booking.

Access
10 minutes from Iida-Yamamoto IC on the Chuo Expressway, with free parking for 50 cars. From the JR Iida Line, take the bus bound for Seinaiji and Hirugami Onsen for 40 minutes, get off at Hirugami Nishiguchi and walk 1 minute. A shuttle to the nearest station or bus stop is offered for parties of 2 or more and must be reserved in advance by phone. A bathing tax of 150 yen per person per night applies separately to guests aged 12 and over. In addition, an Achi-mura accommodation tax was introduced for stays from June 1, 2026: guests staying at a room-only rate of 6,000 yen before tax or more pay 300 yen per person, adults and children alike, settled on site.
