Craft Inn La Mere Ogasawara Hahajima stands on Hahajima in the Ogasawara Islands, a World Natural Heritage site, and is a calming, reassuring pension built around the concept of LOHAS. Hahajima lies about 2 hours beyond Chichijima aboard the Hahajima Maru, and its nature remains more untouched, so you can settle into unhurried island time here.

The inn's great strength is the comfortable space it makes from natural materials. The building, constructed from woods such as hinoki, sugi and Aomori hiba, gives off negative ions, and the 10 tons of charcoal laid in the rooms and beneath the floors keep the air clean while their far-infrared effect helps put your body back in balance. Wrapped in the scent of wood and its clean air, the inn is a comfortable place to stay even for children with sensitive skin and for families with babies.

There are 8 room types, all with a bath and toilet. You can choose according to the size of your family and your preferences, and spend the time quietly together without worrying about other guests.

Breakfast and dinner are both included, with breakfast from 7:30 a.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. The kitchen serves seafood from the waters around Hahajima and dishes made with island ingredients. On Hahajima, where ship services are limited and places to eat are few, staying somewhere that serves two meals is reassuring.

The inn is about a 3-minute walk from Oki Port, the gateway to Hahajima, so you can make it your base as soon as you step off the ship. Hahajima offers a deep encounter with nature quite different from Chichijima: trekking on Mount Chibusa, where many endemic species survive, whale watching, and playing in the sea at Minamizaki and Kominato Beach. For children, it makes an unforgettable trip in which they feel the great nature of a World Natural Heritage site for themselves.

Do note that ship services to Ogasawara and Hahajima are very limited, so your accommodation and your ship need to be planned and booked together, well in advance. Please check room facilities and what can be arranged for babies directly with the inn when you book.
