Natural Hot Spring Kinshachi-no-Yu Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagoya Sakae

forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.44 out of 5 (1,757 reviews). Guests praise the generous spread of Nagoya-meshi (Nagoya's local specialties) at breakfast, with hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice) and kishimen (flat wheat noodles) going over well with families. They also enjoy the free extras, such as ice cream after the bath and the yonaki soba ramen, and many say the communal bath and sauna feel wonderful. On the other hand, some report that the sauna is small and gets crowded, and that there can be waits for lockers in the communal bath and at busy breakfast times.

Overview

Natural Hot Spring Kinshachi-no-Yu Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagoya Sakae sits in Nagoya's lively Nishiki and Sakae district, about a 4-minute walk from the subway's Fushimi Station and within walking distance of Sakae Station. The second floor has the natural hot spring communal baths Kinshachi-no-Yu, separate for men and women, along with a sauna. Co-sleeping is free for ages 0 to 2 and costs 3,000 yen for children from age 3 through elementary school. There are no cribs or extra beds, and most rooms have only a shower booth without a bathtub.

Rooms

Guest rooms include the Semi-Double (15.1 sq m, for 1-2 guests), Double (15.1-16.5 sq m, for 2 guests), Queen (17.8 sq m, for 2 guests), Twin (22.0-27.0 sq m, for 2 guests), Compact Twin Room (17.8 sq m, for 2 guests), Hider Twin Room (26.2 sq m, for 3 guests) and Universal Room (33.0 sq m). Every room has a Serta bed. In single-bed rooms such as the Double and Queen, co-sleeping is available for up to 1 child per 2 adults; in two-bed rooms such as the Twin, it is available for up to 2 children per 2 adults. The Hider Twin Room has two beds plus a sofa bed and sleeps 3. Most rooms have only a shower booth and no bathtub.

Dining

Breakfast is served in the second-floor restaurant from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with last entry at 9 a.m. It is a buffet that includes Nagoya specialties such as hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice) and doteni (miso-simmered beef tendon). The price is 2,500 yen for adults and 1,200 yen for children from age 3 through elementary school, while children aged 2 and under eat free. Every night from 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., a half-size soy-sauce-based ramen called yonaki soba is served free of charge. Because breakfast is a buffet, the hotel does not create individual allergy-specific menus or prepare dishes with particular ingredients removed. Cooking utensils and oil are shared with other ingredients, so trace amounts of ingredients containing the 9 specified allergens may be mixed in.

Baths and Onsen

On the second floor are the natural hot spring communal baths Kinshachi-no-Yu, separate for men and women, with an indoor bath, an open-air cooling-off area, a cold-water bath and a high-temperature sauna. They are open from 3 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning, and the sauna alone is closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. The spring water is an alkaline hypotonic onsen. Mixed bathing is in principle permitted up to age 6, so children aged 6 and under may bathe with a guardian of the opposite sex. Guests with tattoos may not use the communal baths, and swimwear is not permitted either.

Family-friendly features

Children's loungewear and slippers are provided, along with a children's amenity set containing a toothbrush, slippers and a body sponge. Baby chairs in the restaurant are lent free of charge, but numbers are limited and requests cannot always be met. The women's communal bath has children's bath stools and basins. The hotel is not fully barrier-free, but there is one accessible room with few steps where guests using a wheelchair can stay, and wheelchairs are lent free of charge.

Access

The nearest stations are Fushimi and Sakae on the subway Higashiyama Line, about a 4-minute walk from Exit 2 at Fushimi Station and about an 8-minute walk from Exit 8 at Sakae Station.
