Art Hotel Morioka
forumWhat families say
Rakuten Travel rating 4.35 out of 5 (3,809 reviews). Guests report staying comfortably and affordably even with two children, sleeping well with three separate beds, and children enjoying the breakfast buffet. On the other hand, some report hearing footsteps from the floor above and note that the walls are somewhat thin, so it may not suit families whose children are very boisterous.
Overview
Art Hotel Morioka is a 214-room city hotel a 7-minute walk from JR Morioka Station, standing at the entrance to the downtown district. Rooms come in a range of types, including double, twin and triple, and every room has a Simmons mattress. Children of elementary school age and under stay free of charge when co-sleeping, and each room type also has a set child rate. Breakfast is a regional buffet made with Iwate ingredients, served in the restaurant on the 14th floor. Two convenience stores are within a 1-minute walk.
Rooms
There are 214 rooms in all, including double, twin and triple types, and every room has a Simmons mattress. The most compact room, the Standard Double, is 15 sq m with one bed 140 cm wide and suits 1-3 guests. The Deluxe Twin is 25 sq m with two beds 120 cm wide, a good fit for couples and families sightseeing in the area. The Standard Triple, well suited to families, is 29 sq m with three beds 120 cm wide side by side and accommodates 1-6 guests. Each room type has a set child rate.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Aurora, the sky banquet hall on the 14th floor, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with last entry at 9 a.m. It is a regional buffet made with Iwate ingredients, where you can compare two major brands of rice and try Morioka's three famous noodle dishes, hittsumi soup and Iwaizumi yogurt. On plans that include dinner and breakfast, you can choose between a set meal at the Japanese restaurant Kaijuso showcasing Iwate brand meats, and a dinner course at the Chinese restaurant Goka featuring Chinese classics and Morioka reimen cold noodles. Guests with food allergies can receive suggestions for alternative dishes by letting the hotel know in advance after booking; because these differ from the standard meals, an additional charge may apply.
Family-friendly features
Children of elementary school age and under stay free of charge when co-sleeping, though no additional bedding or amenities are provided. Elementary school children who need their own bed should be booked as adults, and breakfast for a co-sleeping child is charged separately. Because each room type has a set child rate, it is easy to choose a room to match your children's ages and your group size. Two convenience stores are within a 1-minute walk of the hotel, and ATMs are available as well, so it is easy to pick up anything you suddenly need.

The hotel is a 7-minute walk from JR Morioka Station, or 3 minutes by taxi. It is 15 minutes by car from the Morioka IC on the expressway and 40 minutes by car from Iwate Hanamaki Airport.
