Overview

Hotel Route Inn Morioka Ekimae is a business hotel about a 1-minute walk from the south exit of JR Morioka Station. On the 14th floor, the communal bath Tabibito no Yu, separated by gender, is an artificial radium hot spring, and breakfast is a free Japanese and Western buffet with more than 30 items. Children who have not yet started elementary school co-sleep free of charge, while elementary school children are 2,000 yen, and the women's communal bath has washing bowls and stools sized for children. There is no private-hire bath, so the communal bath is shared with other guests.

Rooms

Room types include Single A (11 sq m, for 1 guest, with a bed 120 cm wide by 196 cm long), Single B (12 sq m, for 1-2 guests, with a bed 130 cm wide by 196 cm long), Semi-Double (12 sq m, with a bed 140 cm wide by 196 cm long) and Twin (14 sq m, for 1-4 guests, with two mattresses 120 cm wide by 196 cm long). The twin rooms, which take 1-4 guests, are roomy enough to work well for families. Bathrooms are en-suite with a bathtub, and every room has an air purifier with a humidifying function, a thoughtful touch for stays with young children when dry air is a concern. There are also Family Double rooms with a bed 240 cm wide by 196 cm long, and a barrier-free single designed for wheelchair use (140 cm wide by 196 cm long by 48 cm high, bookable by phone only).

Dining

Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet served free of charge at the restaurant Hanachaya, from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. The buffet has more than 30 items, including European breads that change daily. Dinner is served at the food-and-drink spot Hanahanatei, where the dinner menu includes udon dishes, hearty rice bowls and Route Inn's original Ueda Curry, alongside an izakaya menu with sashimi and a la carte dishes to go with drinks (6 p.m. to 10 p.m., last order at 9:30 p.m.).

Baths

The 14th floor has Tabibito no Yu, a communal bath with a view, separated by gender. It is an artificial radium hot spring made by dissolving a quasi-drug approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, so it is not a natural onsen. It is open from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next morning and from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., and is free of charge for staying guests only. The women's communal bath has washing bowls and stools sized for children, making the washing area easier to use with a little one. There is no private-hire bath, so families cannot reserve a bath for themselves.

Family-friendly features

The hotel accepts children as guests. Co-sleeping is free for children who have not yet started elementary school and costs 2,000 yen, tax included, for elementary school children. These rates apply when the number of guests co-sleeping exceeds the room's capacity; if a room for 2 is used by 1 adult and 1 child, the charge is for 2 adults. Children's amenities are provided in the rooms. The air purifiers with a humidifying function in every room are also helpful for stays with babies and toddlers during dry seasons. The communal bath has no private-hire bath and is shared with other guests.
