Amakusa Prince Hotel is a ryokan in Higashimachi, Amakusa, Kumamoto, close to the Seto Ohashi Bridge that links Amakusa's Kamishima and Shimoshima islands. Its panoramic communal bath looks out over the Ariake Sea and is filled with a soft artificial radium spring that is colorless, clear and odorless. The Japanese-style tatami rooms come in 8-mat and 10-mat sizes, each with a toilet. The 10-mat rooms look out across the sea, and both types have set children's rates. Dinner, such as the Amakusa kaiseki (a multi-course Japanese meal), is served in your room or in a private banquet room, and some plans include a kids' meal and children's tableware.
Rooms
Guest rooms come in two types: 8-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms, and 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms (Harbor View) looking out over the Ariake Sea. Neither type has a bath, and both have a toilet. The 8-mat rooms take 1 to 4 guests and the 10-mat rooms 1 to 5 guests, and both have set children's rates. Each room has a television, individually controlled air conditioning, a refrigerator, a tea set and a hot-water kettle, while an iron and a hair dryer are available to borrow. Wi-Fi is provided in every room, and since April 2026 all guest rooms have been non-smoking.

Dinner is a kaiseki (multi-course Japanese) meal such as the Amakusa kaiseki, with appetizers, grilled dishes, fried dishes, chawanmushi (savory egg custard), a meat dish, sashimi and more, served either in your room or in a private banquet room. Breakfast is a set Japanese meal made with the bounty of Amakusa. The dolphin watching plan and the fishing plan come with a kids' meal of Hamburg steak, steak, fried shrimp and similar dishes, and children's tableware such as spoons, forks and bowls can be provided if you ask a staff member.
Baths and Onsen
The panoramic communal bath looks out over the Ariake Sea and is filled with a soft artificial radium spring that is colorless, clear and odorless. The large windows can be opened across about half of the wall, so you can feel the sea breeze while you bathe. In both the men's and women's baths, the washing stations have partitions, so you can wash without worrying about other guests. Towels are set out in the changing room for anyone to use, which means less to carry from your room. The bath is open from 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and again in the morning from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The hotel is about 100 minutes by car from central Kumamoto and about 15 minutes by car from Amakusa Airport. From Kumamoto Station, take the rapid bus bound for Amakusa (about 140 minutes) and get off at Hondo Bus Center, then walk about 15 minutes or take a taxi for about 3 minutes. Free parking is available for up to 30 cars. On some plans, a free shuttle is available from Hondo Bus Center, Hondo Port or Amakusa Airport (reservation required, or call on the day to book).
