Travel tips
This is the closest station to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and ridership has been growing in recent years as more tourists visit. The platform is on the second basement level and the ticket gate is on the first, so using the elevator makes things easier with a stroller or lots of luggage. There is also a foreign currency exchange machine inside the station.
Best season
Every year from August 8 to 10, a pottery festival (Toki Matsuri) is held near the station, from the east end of Gojo-Ohashi Bridge to Higashioji-dori Street. Kyoto is most beautiful, and also most crowded, during the cherry blossom season from late March to April and the autumn foliage season in November. The easiest times to get around are early summer and weekdays in October. Summers are hot and humid, and winters are bitterly cold.
Getting there
The station is on the Keihan Main Line, between Shichijo Station and Gion-Shijo Station. For buses, the Gojo Keihan stop is on Gojo-dori Street on the east side of the station.
