Travel tips
When traveling with kids, use the subway and head to popular spots early in the morning to make it easier to avoid waits and crowds. Temples and shrines often have gravel paths and stairs, so a baby carrier can be easier to manage than a stroller at times. Summers are hot and humid and winters bring a bone-deep chill, so dress for the season, drink plenty of water, and be prepared for the cold.
Best season
Spring cherry blossoms (late March to April) and autumn leaves (November) are especially beautiful, but they are also the most crowded times. For a more relaxed visit, early summer or a weekday in October, before the leaves start to turn, tends to be a better choice. Summer has events such as the Gion Festival, and winter is a quiet time to visit temples and shrines.
Getting there
The station is on the subway Tozai Line, between Misasagi Station (T08) and Higashiyama Station (T10). For buses, Keihan Bus serves the Keage stop.
