Reaching the 5th floor means climbing stairs from the 4th floor. Unlike the communal bath, it is just for your family, so even with small children you can bathe without worrying about other guests.

All 26 rooms have an open-air or semi-open-air bath fed by free-flowing onsen water, which you can use any time during your stay. Rooms with an open-air bath also have a shower booth inside, while rooms with a semi-open-air bath use the washing area next to that bath. You can bathe with your children without worrying about the communal bath's hours or age rules. In the 41 sq m Japanese-Western Twin, however, there is a step at the entrance to the semi-open-air bath and you have to step over the edge of the tub to get in, so please watch your footing.

YOKI MATSUSHIMA is a hotel that opened in August 2026 on the coast of Matsushima, one of the Three Views of Japan. All 26 rooms have an open-air or semi-open-air bath fed by free-flowing onsen water, and every room is a Japanese-Western room of at least 41 sq m, so families have plenty of space to relax. Children aged 0 to 6 can stay for a facility fee of 5,500 yen (tax included), and elementary school children pay the adult rate. Every room has beds, and additional bedding is provided for stays of 3 or more guests. Under Miyagi Prefecture regulations, children aged 7 and over cannot join a parent in the communal bath for the opposite sex.
Rooms
All 26 rooms have a view bath overlooking the sea, fed by free-flowing onsen water, and every room is at least 41 sq m. Nine rooms have an open-air bath and 17 have a semi-open-air bath. Every layout is a Japanese-Western room that combines beds with Japanese-style furnishings. By capacity, the 69 sq m Corner Suite and the 58-62 sq m Japanese-Western Twin sleep 2 to 4 guests, and the 54 sq m Japanese-Western Twin sleeps 2 to 3, so these rooms work well for families. The 57 sq m Corner Premier Double, the 46 sq m Japanese-Western Double and the Japanese-Western Twin rooms of 58-59 sq m, 46-51 sq m and 41 sq m each sleep 2 guests. The 42-44 sq m Japanese-Western Double sleeps 1 to 2. Every room has beds, and additional bedding is provided for stays of 3 or more guests. In the 69 sq m Corner Suite, a floor mattress (100 cm wide by 210 cm long) is provided when 3 or 4 guests stay, and the 42-44 sq m Japanese-Western Double has one bed measuring 240 cm wide by 210 cm long. The 41 sq m Japanese-Western Twin has wide walkways that make it comfortable in a wheelchair, which also suits families who want room to maneuver a stroller inside. No room is fully barrier-free, however, and there are some steps within the building. All rooms are non-smoking, and each has one air purifier with a humidifying function. Connecting rooms are not available.

Breakfast and dinner are both served in the restaurant; in-room dining is not offered. Children under school age are served meals prepared for children, so please ask about the details in advance. For allergies and disliked ingredients, menu changes covering the 9 specified allergenic ingredients are accepted up to 3 days before your stay (up to 7 days before during the year-end and New Year holidays, Golden Week and the Obon holiday period). Dishes are cooked in the same kitchen as the rest of the menu and washed with the same dishwashing equipment, so complete allergy accommodation cannot be promised. If you book several rooms on one reservation and get in touch at least 3 days in advance, the hotel will seat your group together wherever possible.
Baths and Onsen
The spring water is an alkaline simple onsen (a hypotonic, alkaline, high-temperature spring), and the open-air and semi-open-air baths in the rooms are fed by free-flowing onsen water. Because you can use them any time during your stay, you can bathe with your children without worrying about the communal bath's hours or crowds. The communal bath on the first floor has a small sauna on both the men's and women's sides and is open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Under Miyagi Prefecture regulations, children may use the communal bath for the opposite sex only up to age 6; children aged 7 and over cannot. Guests with tattoos may bathe only if the tattoos can be covered with two tattoo cover seals (about 10 cm x 15 cm). Miharashi no Yu, the private-hire view bath on the 5th floor (the top floor), is by reservation only at 5,500 yen (tax included) for 45 minutes; to reach the 5th floor you climb stairs from the 4th floor. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may get into the tubs is not stated, so please confirm with the hotel in advance.

A free shuttle runs from Matsushima Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line and Matsushimakaigan Station on the JR Senseki Line from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. To use it, contact the hotel by phone or through the reservation form, either on the day or in advance. Parking has 35 spaces and is free for staying guests from 2 p.m. until 11 a.m. the next day.
