Overview
Twin Leaves Hotel Izumo is a 150-room hotel a 30-second walk from the north exit of JR Izumoshi Station, right beside Ichibata Electric Railway's Izumoshi Station. The Hollywood-style twin rooms, with two single beds placed side by side, are handy for co-sleeping with a young child, and children's tableware is provided at the breakfast buffet. There is no communal bath at the hotel, so bathing is normally in the en-suite bathroom in each room. Children co-sleeping stay free of charge, but children of elementary school age and above are charged the same room rate as adults.
Rooms
This 150-room hotel is about a 30-second walk from the north exit of JR Izumoshi Station and sits right beside Ichibata Electric Railway's Izumoshi Station. Alongside the non-smoking Comfort Single (17 sq m, a 140 cm wide double bed, for 1-2 guests), the Hollywood-style Compact Twin (17 sq m, two beds 90 cm wide) places two single beds side by side, a layout that also works well for co-sleeping with a young child. The Queen Double (19 sq m) has a 160 cm wide bed, and the Standard Twin (27 sq m, for 2-3 guests) has two 110 cm wide beds plus a desk and a table with chairs; when 3 guests stay, an extra bed is used. Both are popular sizes with couples and with families traveling with children. The hotel's top room category, the Deluxe Twin (32-35 sq m, for 2-3 guests), is also available. Every room has a refrigerator, a bidet-function toilet and waffle-weave gowns, while items such as a humidifying air purifier, iron, blanket and nail clippers are offered at the front desk as free loan items in limited numbers. There is one Universal Twin (35 sq m, for 2 guests) with a bathroom that can be used while remaining in a wheelchair, and wheelchairs are also available to borrow. A plan is available that extends the usual 10 a.m. checkout to 12 noon.
Dining
Breakfast is served only as a Japanese-Western buffet at the restaurant Camellia, from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.; dinner is not served. More than 20 dishes are laid out, including local specialties such as miso soup made with Yamato shijimi clams, a specialty of Lake Shinji, ago-noyaki (grilled flying-fish surimi) and Izumo soba, counted as one of Japan's three great soba traditions. Children's tableware and cutlery are also provided, so the whole family can enjoy the breakfast buffet. The price is 2,000 yen including tax; children who have not yet started elementary school eat free, and children of elementary school age and above pay the same price as adults. Because it is a buffet, individual allergy accommodations are not provided. Non-guests can have breakfast as well by going directly to the restaurant, though they may be turned away when it is busy.
Baths
There is no communal bath at the hotel, so bathing is normally in the en-suite bathroom in each room. The en-suite bathrooms are on the roomier side, giving you space to relax. A day-use onsen facility called Ranpu no Yu is about a 3-minute walk away, but it is a separate facility from the hotel.
Family-friendly features
Children co-sleeping stay free of charge, but children of elementary school age and above are charged the same room rate as adults. Children's tableware and cutlery are provided, making the breakfast buffet easy for families to use. There is one fully barrier-free room, and wheelchairs are available to borrow (please contact the hotel in advance if you would like one). An amenity bar by the front desk lets guests pick up just what they need.
Access
The hotel is next to JR Izumoshi Station and Ichibata Electric Railway's Izumoshi Station, about a 30-second walk from the north exit of JR Izumoshi Station. From Izumo Enmusubi Airport it is about 20 minutes by taxi and about 25 minutes by airport bus. The surface parking lot on the east side of the hotel costs 500 yen per night, and on the day after your stay you can leave your car there and head out until 6 p.m.
