forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.3 out of 5 (2,012 reviews). Many guests mention that having a washing machine, microwave and mini kitchen in the room is handy for families staying several nights or hoping to pack light. Reviews also describe the staff as kind and attentive, and note that several stations are close by and shopping nearby is easy. On the other hand, there is no shared laundry, and some guests found longer stays inconvenient without choosing a room that has a washing machine. Some also point out that the nearest station has stairs only.

Overview

Tokyu Stay Nihonbashi is a 121-room hotel about a 2-minute walk from Exit 8 of JR Shin-Nihombashi Station. Every room has a microwave and a humidifying air purifier, and most rooms, though not all, also have a front-loading washer-dryer. The hotel's most spacious room, the Residential Twin, is 28 sq m, sleeps 1 to 3 guests and comes with a mini kitchen. Children under school age co-sleep free of charge, up to one child per bed on the accommodation plans, while children of elementary school age and older pay the same rate as adults. No communal bath or playroom is listed. Large-scale renovation work on the building continues until the end of March 2027, with noisy, odor-producing work during the daytime on weekdays.

Rooms

The entire hotel, every room included, is non-smoking. There are six room types: Smart Double, Standard Double, Moderate Double, Residential Double, Residential Twin and the barrier-free Universal. For a family stay, the Residential Twin, the hotel's most spacious room, is the one to consider. It is 28 sq m, sleeps 1 to 3 guests and has two beds, each 120 cm wide; for three guests, an extra bed is added. Designed for mid- to long-term stays by families and others, it has a mini kitchen, a washer-dryer and a microwave. The Residential Double is 17 sq m, sleeps 1 to 2 guests and has one 160 cm-wide bed. Besides a mini kitchen, a washer-dryer and a microwave, it comes with cooking utensils such as pots and a dining table. The Moderate Double is 16 sq m with one 160 cm-wide bed, and the Smart Double is 14 sq m with one 140 cm-wide bed; both sleep 1 to 2 guests. The Standard Double is 15 sq m, with a bed size of 1,400 mm, and sleeps 1 to 2 guests. The Universal is a 14 sq m barrier-free room with a bed size of 1,200 mm, sleeping 2. Every room has a microwave. Front-loading washer-dryers are in most rooms, though not all: the Smart Double, Moderate Double and Universal do not have one. Only the Residential Double and Residential Twin have a mini kitchen; the Smart Double, Standard Double, Moderate Double and Universal do not. Rooms with a washer-dryer are stocked with laundry detergent for the number of nights you stay. Rooms also have a humidifying air purifier and individually controlled air conditioning. DVD players are available to borrow, though numbers are limited.

Dining

According to a hotel announcement, the current breakfast, Stay Morning, will be discontinued after it is served in mid-November 2026, and is scheduled to be replaced by a new food service that lets you choose items whenever you like during your stay. The start date and details of the new service will be announced once confirmed. If you have already booked a plan that includes breakfast, your booking will be carried over for use with the new service, with nothing you need to do. Until it ends, Stay Morning works like this: you choose one GREENSPOON frozen soup plus two items from a selection of specialty frozen breads and frozen ekiben (train-station boxed meal) rice balls, carry them yourself from the pickup station on the front-desk floor to your room, and heat them in your room's microwave. It is available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and costs 1,320 yen (tax included). No children's menu is mentioned. You may bring in your own food and drinks, and rooms have a refrigerator.

Family-Friendly Features

Children under school age co-sleep free of charge, and the accommodation plans state a limit of one child per bed. Tokyu Stay's guidance likewise says one co-sleeping child per regular bed stays free. However, Tokyu Stay's general guidance also uses the wording "one co-sleeping child free per adult," so if you want two children to co-sleep in a twin room, please confirm when booking. When you book, enter only the number of adults, without counting the children. Children of elementary school age and older pay the same rate as adults and are booked as adults. The accommodation plans are marked as having child rates, so please check the rates for each plan. Crib rental and children's amenities are offered only at some Tokyu Stay properties, so please ask in advance whether they are available at this hotel. According to Tokyu Stay's FAQ, the front desk is open 24 hours, people who are not staying at the hotel cannot enter the guest-room floors, and English-speaking staff are always on duty. No communal bath or playroom is listed. From the first week of October 2026 until the end of March 2027, the building is undergoing large-scale renovation work. According to a notice from the hotel on Ikyu.com (a Japanese booking site), work is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with especially loud noise and odors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Because workers pass outside the windows during the work, guests are asked to keep their curtains and windows closed, and since the whole building is covered in mesh sheeting, there is no view from the rooms. If you expect to spend a lot of time in your room during the day, check whether your dates fall within this period before booking.

Access

The hotel is about a 2-minute walk from Exit 8 of JR Shin-Nihombashi Station, a 7-minute walk from the South Exit of Kanda Station, a 6-minute walk from Mitsukoshimae Station on the Ginza Line, and about a 5-minute walk from Kodemmacho Station on the Hibiya Line. Ueno Zoo is about 20 minutes away by public transportation, and Sumida Aquarium about 40 minutes. A convenience store is about a 5-minute walk away. There is no dedicated or affiliated parking, so if you come by car, use a public pay parking lot nearby. Check-in is from 3 p.m., and checkout is by 11 a.m. If you will arrive after 10 p.m., you need to contact the front desk.
