Overview
Hotelnosegawa is an onsen inn tucked away in Nosegawa-mura, Nara, about a 40-minute drive from Koyasan. All 30 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, and every one of them faces the riverbank. The strongly alkaline onsen, drawn from 400 m underground, has water gentle enough for young children, and kids' meals are served at both dinner and breakfast, with allergy accommodation available. Families can also enjoy the play equipment at the campground and play in the river, and a shuttle bus from Nankai Koyasan Station is available with advance reservation.
Rooms
All 30 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, and each sits along the Kawarahigawa River, with scenery that changes through the seasons. Standard room equipment includes a television, telephone, Wi-Fi, kettle, tea set, refrigerator, air conditioning and heating in every room, a toilet with a bidet function, and a safe. A hair dryer, iron and humidifier are also available to borrow. For guests who have difficulty walking, Japanese-Western rooms are available and a folding bed can be used. There are also spacious 18-tatami-mat rooms that sleep up to 8 guests. The campground has bungalows for up to 6 guests, where you can cook for yourself in the indoor kitchen and futon bedding is provided for each guest.
Dining
Dinner is served at table seating in the first-floor banquet rooms (Uguisu, Shakunage and Shirakaba). The inn's own signature dish, kashiki nabe, is a soy-sauce-broth hot pot that mixes duck, wild boar and pheasant. Other courses include duck hot pot, Japanese black beef shabu-shabu, shojin ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) and a kaiseki course featuring amago trout. At breakfast you can try overnight-dried amago trout, said to be the only such dish in Nara Prefecture. Day-use visitors can also dine at the restaurant Obako-tei.
Baths and Onsen
The natural onsen is a simple sulfur spring welling up from 400 m underground, and it is strongly alkaline at pH 10.4. It is said to be beneficial for skin troubles such as chronic eczema, and the water is gentle enough for young children. There are 2 indoor baths each for men and women, with no mixed bathing, plus a view bath that can be used under certain conditions. Staying guests can bathe from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., with cleaning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., while day-use bathing is available from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Access
Koyasan is about 20 km away, roughly 40 minutes by car. A shuttle service from Nankai Koya Line Koyasan Station is available for staying guests. On weekdays, you take the Nosegawa village bus, departing Koyasan Station at 4 p.m. and Koyasan Senjuin at 4:15 p.m., at a maximum of 1,590 yen one way; the return trip is by free hotel shuttle. On weekends and public holidays the village bus does not run, so hotel staff come to meet guests at the same times, and the return trip is also a free shuttle. Advance reservations are required. The shuttle from the hotel to Koyasan Station departs at 10 a.m. and is free of charge on weekdays, weekends and public holidays alike. Parking is free for 50 cars and requires no reservation. In winter there is snow, so tires fitted with chains or a 4WD vehicle are suitable.
