Izanro Iwasaki is a long-established ryokan founded in the 9th year of the Taisho era (1920), with the waters of Misasa Onsen, one of the world's foremost radium springs. Its bathing areas range from large to small and each has its own character, including an open-air bath set in a large strolling garden, and there is a barrier-free private-hire bath as well. Children ages 0 to 5 may stay with co-sleeping, babies and toddlers stay at no charge if they need neither meals nor a futon, and children under school age can be served a kids' set with dishes such as omurice and Hamburg steak. The ryokan has 79 rooms in total.
Rooms
Guest rooms come in a range of types, starting with the purely Japanese-style rooms in Sansuikaku and Tozankaku (45-58 sq m, for up to 5 guests). On Futaba, the Japanese-Western concept floor, there are Japanese-style twin rooms (21 sq m, for up to 2 guests), Japanese-Western rooms (26 sq m, for up to 4 guests) and two-room Japanese-Western rooms (31 sq m, for up to 4 guests). The communal baths are separated by gender and divided by a corridor, so they are not mixed bathing and no swimsuit is required. Mixed bathing is permitted for both boys and girls up to age 7; under Tottori Prefecture ordinance, children aged 8 and over cannot bathe together in mixed company. The private-hire bath Dokuzan no Yu, for staying guests only, is a barrier-free bath with both an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and costs 1,100 yen per group for 45 minutes. Advance reservations are also accepted, and availability can be checked by phone. Rooms with their own open-air bath also use onsen water.
