KOKO STAY Shimonoseki is a 2-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Shimonoseki Station, with a restaurant that takes pride in its fugu (pufferfish) dishes and local sake. Rooms come in four types - semi-double, double, twin and triple - and the twin and triple rooms are 24 sq m for 1 to 4 guests. One child in the 3rd grade of elementary school or under can co-sleep free of charge, and children's amenities are kept at the front desk. There is no communal bath; every room has its own bath and toilet. Surface parking for 40 cars on a first-come, first-served basis also makes arriving by car easy.
Rooms
There are three room types - semi-double rooms (12 sq m, 80 rooms, with a 122 cm-wide bed), double rooms (16.8 sq m, 9 rooms, with a 180 cm-wide bed) and twin rooms (24 sq m, 9 rooms, non-smoking, with two 122 cm-wide beds) - plus triple rooms (24 sq m, for 1 to 4 guests) that combine two semi-double beds with one extra bed. Every room has the basics, including free Wi-Fi, a TV, a refrigerator, an electric kettle, a toilet with a bidet function and a hair dryer. Guest rooms are cleaned once every three days; on days without cleaning, only bath towels and face towels are left outside the room.
Dining
Breakfast is served from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the first-floor restaurant Bishoku Shuka Yumezen, in a plate set-meal style with a choice of six options: a Japanese-style set, a Western-style set, fuku zosui (pufferfish rice porridge, limited to 25 servings), a toast set, an onigiri rice ball set (limited to 6 servings) and a pancake set. Dinner is served at the same restaurant from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with last orders at 10 p.m., and centers on fugu (pufferfish) dishes that are a specialty of Shimonoseki along with local sake, available as individual plates or as a course.
Baths
There is no communal bath; each guest room has its own bath and toilet.
Family-Friendly Features
One child in the 3rd grade of elementary school or under can co-sleep free of charge per bed, though towels, amenities and similar items are not provided for a co-sleeping child.
