Hachijo View Hotel

Hachijo View Hotel stands on high ground in Ookago on Hachijojima and, as its name suggests, is a ryokan-style resort hotel with sweeping views of Hachijo-Fuji and the deep blue sea. It is about 5 minutes by car from the airport, which makes it a convenient base for sightseeing on Hachijojima.

What families will appreciate are the facilities arranged with babies in mind. A crib can be provided, and the amenities include a bidet-equipped toilet along with liquid soap and body soap. Guest rooms range from the ocean-side Japanese-style tatami room Tokoharu, a favorite with families, to deluxe Western-style rooms looking out over the sea, so you can choose to suit your family's size and preferences. A Japanese-style tatami room gives you space to lay a small child down, or for the whole family to sleep together on futons.

The baths are generous as well. Alongside the communal bath, there are rooms and plans that come with an in-room open-air bath or a private-hire bath. With a private-hire bath or the bath in your own room, the family can bathe together without worrying about other guests, which is reassuring even with a baby only a few months old.

In summer, an outdoor pool opens, giving children a place to play in the water with a sense of security that is different from the sea. Meals can also be served in your room or in a private dining room, so families with small children can eat in a calm setting.

Hachijojima Airport is about 5 minutes away by car, and a shuttle bus runs in time with arrivals and departures. Haneda Airport is about 55 minutes away by plane, so the hotel is easy to reach despite being on a remote island. It is also well placed for getting around island spots that families can enjoy, such as the Fureai Bokujo petting farm on Hachijo-Fuji, the Hachijo Botanical Park with its free admission, and onsen looking down over the sea.

Please note that the outdoor pool operates in summer only, and that in-room open-air baths, private-hire baths and cribs vary by room type and availability, so please confirm when booking. A full set of bedding added for a Child B or a child under school age is 2,200 yen including tax, and breakfast is 770 yen including tax. For guests with food allergies, the hotel does as much as it can when serving food and drink, but it cannot guarantee the complete removal of allergens.
