Hachijo View Hotel

Hachijo View Hotel stands on high ground in Ookago on Hachijojima and, true to its name, is a ryokan-style resort hotel with sweeping views of Hachijo-Fuji and the deep blue sea. At about 5 minutes by car from the airport, it is easy to reach and makes a good base for sightseeing on Hachijojima.

What families will appreciate most are the facilities designed to make stays with a baby easier. Cribs can be provided, and the amenities include a toilet with a washing function, liquid soap and body soap. The guest rooms are varied, from the ocean-side Japanese-style tatami room Tokoharu, a favorite with families, to deluxe Western-style rooms looking out to sea, so you can choose to suit the size of your family and your preferences. In a Japanese-style tatami room there is plenty of space to lay a small child down to sleep or for the whole family to sleep together on futons.

The baths are a highlight too. Alongside the communal bath, there are rooms and plans that come with an in-room open-air bath or a private-hire bath. In a private-hire bath or your room's own bath, the family can bathe together without worrying about other guests, which brings peace of mind even with a baby only a few months old.

In summer an outdoor pool opens, where children can play in the water in a setting that feels reassuring in a different way from the sea. Meals can be served in your room or in a private dining room, so even families with small children can eat in a relaxed setting.

Hachijojima Airport is about 5 minutes away by car, and a shuttle bus runs to meet arrivals and departures. Haneda Airport is only about 55 minutes away by plane, so the hotel is easy to visit despite being on a remote island. It is also well placed for getting around island spots that families can enjoy, such as the Fureai Bokujo farm on Hachijo-Fuji, the Hachijo Botanical Park with free admission, and onsen looking down over the sea.

A full set of bedding added for a Child Rate B child or a child under school age costs 2,200 yen including tax, and breakfast costs 770 yen including tax. For guests with food allergies, the hotel does everything it can when serving food and drink, but complete removal of allergens is not guaranteed. Checkout is normally at 10 a.m., and extending it costs an additional 1,100 to 2,200 yen per person per hour. The rate differs by room category, and extensions depend on availability.
