Lodge Ocean Hachijojima is a minshuku-style guesthouse (a family-run Japanese inn) in the center of Hachijojima, a 5-minute walk from the swimming beach. It has Western-style and Japanese-style tatami rooms in the New Wing, along with the Annex and a newly built Single Wing. The 8- and 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms sleep 4 to 5 guests including children co-sleeping, giving families room to spread out. Dinner follows a daily changing menu or features local fish, and plans with breakfast can be chosen as well. An attached dive shop lends snorkeling sets free of charge in summer and gives staying guests a discount on introductory dives.
Rooms
The New Wing has twin rooms (13 sq m, with bath and toilet), 8-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms (for up to 4 guests, including children co-sleeping) and 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms (for up to 5 guests, including children co-sleeping); all are non-smoking and come with free Wi-Fi. The Annex has 6-tatami rooms with a bed, but when two or more guests share one, futon bedding is prepared instead of the bed, and the bath and toilet are shared. The Single Wing, newly built in 2023, has private rooms of 13.5 sq m with a bath and toilet, though they sleep only 1 to 2 guests. Child rates are set for the New Wing twin rooms, the 8- and 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms and the Annex. A microwave and a mini kitchen are provided in some rooms, and using them requires advance reservation.
Dining
Breakfast and dinner are both served in the dining room. What is included differs by accommodation plan - breakfast only, breakfast and dinner, or room-only - and alongside plans with a daily changing dinner menu, there are limited-period plans with a dinner of local fish made from the island's fresh ingredients. Meals cannot be individually adjusted for food allergies, so take care if you are staying with a child who has allergies.
Baths
Guest rooms in the New Wing have a bathroom, and the rooms in the newly built Single Wing have an en-suite bathroom, so you can bathe in your own room. The Annex has a shared bathhouse, divided into men's and women's baths.

The 8- and 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms sleep up to 4 or 5 guests including children co-sleeping, so they work for family stays. Children co-sleeping are counted within the capacity on every plan. When two or more guests use an Annex room, futon bedding is prepared instead of the bed. The newly built Single Wing, on the other hand, sleeps only 1 to 2 guests, so it does not suit families.
Access
The guesthouse is 7 minutes by car from Hachijojima Airport and a 6-minute walk from Sokodo Port on Hachijojima. Guests traveling on ANA flights or with Tokai Kisen ferries can arrange a shuttle by reserving in advance. Parking is free for 20 vehicles, needs no reservation and can take large vehicles. The swimming beach is a 5-minute walk away.
