Overview
Hoshifuru Bettei WANASA is a private villa in Kaiyo-cho, Tokushima, with just two buildings, each rented to a single group and set where Mitoko Bay opens up in front of you. The 42.7 sq m Japanese-Western rooms come with a kitchen and a washer-dryer, plus a semi-open-air bath looking out over Mitoko Bay. Each villa takes up to 2 adults (3 adults can be arranged by phone reservation only), along with up to 2 accompanying children ages 0 to 12, and co-sleeping is for up to 2 children. Dinner is by advance reservation and a kids' dinner is prepared for children, while breakfast is homemade bread from an affiliated bakery, set out in the room for you to help yourself. No staff are on site and check-in is self-service; there is no television, and no onsen or pool facilities. It suits a quiet stay with the sounds of nature and a sky full of stars.
Rooms
There are only two buildings, Kosui to the west of the grounds and Tenran to the east, each a 42.7 sq m Japanese-Western room. Kosui has a skip-floor tatami space, while at Tenran, Mitoko Bay and the sky spread out beyond the wood deck from a lowered floor level. There is one bed, 180 cm wide by 196 cm long and 22 cm high. The room has a kitchen, a washer-dryer, a refrigerator, a microwave and cutlery, so it is set up for longer stays. A humidifier and a dedicated Wi-Fi line are also available. There is no television, and pajamas and yukata are not provided. Capacity is 1 to 4 guests, with up to 2 adults per villa plus up to 2 accompanying children ages 0 to 12. Stays for 3 adults are possible with bedding prepared for the third guest, whose rate is 11,000 yen including breakfast and tax; these reservations are accepted by phone only. Using both buildings together, the maximum is 5 guests, and larger groups are directed to the affiliated Pension Shishikui.

For breakfast, homemade bread and granola from the affiliated shop Umibe no Pan Kobo Hana are set out in your room, so you can help yourself whenever you like. Dinner is by advance reservation, and you can choose between eating in your room and eating at the affiliated Pension Shishikui. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and checkout is at 11 a.m.; luggage cannot be stored before check-in or after checkout. The outdoor lights go off at around 9 p.m., and the approach and garden become very dark. Because of the richly natural setting, insects may get inside, and on very rare occasions you may encounter wild animals. There is generally no cleaning during your stay, though it can be added as an option on request. The interior is non-smoking, and pets cannot stay. It is about a 15-minute walk from Shishikui Station on the Asa Kaigan Railway, and about 2 hours by car south from Tokushima City on Route 55. Parking is for about 2 cars per building and is free for guests. A shuttle to the station is possible with advance reservation, but transport options in the area are limited, so a rental car is recommended.
