Overview
Towada Prince Hotel is a 66-room resort hotel on the western shore of Lake Towada. Every room is a twin room of at least 21 sq m, and the Lakeside types accommodate a third guest with an extra bed. Up to 2 infants and toddlers can stay by co-sleeping, and they stay free of charge when booked without meals and without bedding. Cribs are available depending on the room type, and a kids' menu is offered. The open-air bath at Towadako Nishi Kohan Onsen is free for staying guests. The hotel is about 40 minutes by car from the Kosaka IC on the Tohoku Expressway, and a shuttle bus is also available by reservation.
Rooms
There are 3 room types: the Lakeside Corner Twin Room (29.0 sq m, for 1-2 guests, with two beds 120 cm wide by 203 cm long), the Lakeside Twin Room (25.5 sq m, for 1-3 guests, with beds 110 cm wide by 203 cm long; when 3 guests stay, two extra beds 110 cm wide by 185 cm long are used), and the Mountainside Twin Room (21.0 sq m, for 2 guests, with two beds 110 cm wide by 203 cm long). All rooms are non-smoking and have Simmons beds, and each room comes with a coffee grinder.
Dining
Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., with last orders at 8:30 a.m. It is served either in the Private Garden outdoors or in the Main Dining Room; in summer, service in the Private Garden may be suspended temporarily because of horseflies, dragonflies and other insects. Dining outdoors is self-service, with guests collecting their food at the restaurant and carrying it out to the garden. Dinner is a Lake Towada French course - the Cuisine Dinner (13,500 yen), the Michinoku Dinner (12,500 yen) or the Prince Dinner (10,000 yen) - and all are served in the Main Dining Room from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with last orders at 8 p.m. A kids' meal menu is available, and with some plans children are served the same meal as adults. Baths and Onsen
Towadako Nishi Kohan Onsen is an open-air bath on the grounds, with one roofed tub each for men and women. The spring water is a calcium-sodium sulfate spring (hypotonic, weakly alkaline, high-temperature), said to be beneficial for recovery from fatigue, joint stiffness, chronic digestive ailments and sensitivity to cold. No water is added, so the water is kept 100% from the source, though it is heated to maintain a comfortable temperature and is recirculated, filtered and treated with chlorine-based agents for hygiene; no bath additives are used. Staying guests can use the bath free of charge, with a bathing tax of 150 yen (adults only) charged separately. There is no communal bath and no private-hire bath, and there are no indoor or outdoor pools. For day-use bathing, the rate is 1,200 yen for adults and 600 yen for elementary school children, and it is free for children who have not yet started elementary school.

By bus, the Towadako bus stop is 2 hours 30 minutes from Hachinohe Station, 2 hours 15 minutes from Morioka Station and 2 hours 55 minutes from Aomori Station, and the hotel is 15 minutes by taxi from the bus stop (about 3,000 yen). Free shuttle buses run from Hachinohe Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen (Thursday to Sunday) and from the Yasumiya bus stop (Monday to Wednesday), and reservations are required at least 2 days in advance. There is parking for 40 cars, free for staying guests and requiring no reservation. Convenience stores and similar shops are more than 30 minutes by car from the lakeside, so guests arriving late are advised to eat before heading to the hotel.
