Suigetsuka is an onsen inn on the shore of Lake Suigetsu, one of the Mikata Five Lakes in Fukui Prefecture. Many of the rooms look out over Lake Suigetsu, although one of the Western-style twin room types has no window. There are four room types: themed rooms, Western-style twins, Japanese-style twins and 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms. The age range covered is 0 to 12, and co-sleeping is available for up to 2 children. The communal bath has a sauna, while the open-air bath alternates between men and women and cannot be reserved for private use. Dinner is a kaiseki course (a traditional multi-course meal) featuring ingredients such as fugu (blowfish) and Wakasa beef, and breakfast is a Japanese set meal made with local produce.
Rooms
Suigetsuka stands on the shore of Lake Suigetsu, and the lake can be seen not only from the guest rooms but also from the communal bath and the dining venue. The lake-view Japanese-style tatami rooms take 1 to 5 guests, roomy enough for a larger family. Some Western-style twin rooms have two beds measuring 125 cm wide by 195 cm long and 43 cm high, but this group includes rooms with no window (the Renewal Western-style Twin), so if you want a lake view, check the room type when you book. Items available to borrow for your room include an air purifier (nanoe type / air type) and a humidifier, a thoughtful touch for families with babies and toddlers in the drier seasons.

Dinner is a kaiseki course served in the restaurant, with several plans featuring Wakasa fugu (blowfish), Wakasa beef or nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch). Breakfast is a Japanese set meal built around local produce, with Wakasa specialties such as grilled salted mackerel, squid sashimi and dashimaki (rolled omelet). Children aged 7 to 12 are charged 70% of the adult rate and are served dishes comparable to the adult meal. For children aged 0 to 6, using both meals (a kids' meal) and bedding costs 50% of the adult rate, using only one of the two costs 3,300 yen, and using neither costs 2,200 yen. On some plans, however, children may be charged 100% of the adult rate. Meals that take allergies into account can also be arranged. In the morning there is a paid morning cruise around Lake Suigetsu and Lake Suga, at 1,800 yen for adults and 900 yen for children of elementary school age and younger; breakfast is switched to a boxed meal.

The communal bath has a sauna, and you can soak while looking out over Lake Suigetsu spread out in front of you. The spring water is a sodium chloride strong-salt spring. The panoramic open-air bath alternates between men and women and cannot be reserved for private use, so if you want to bathe as a family without worrying about other guests, keep this in mind when planning.
