Kushiro Prince Hotel

forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 3.97 out of 5 (2,191 reviews). Many guests praise the sunset and sea views from the ocean-side rooms, and at the breakfast buffet the corner where you build your own seafood rice bowl and the pudding were well received. The hotel also lets guests choose a firm or soft pillow, though some were disappointed that the bath and toilet are not separate when using a triple room.

Overview

Kushiro Prince Hotel stands next to Kushiro City Hall, about a 10-minute walk from JR Kushiro Station, with ocean views. Its main draw is the twin rooms looking out on one of the world's three great sunsets. Co-sleeping is free for children who have not yet started elementary school, and cribs and bed guards are available to borrow free of charge (advance reservation required; numbers are limited). On the other hand, there is no communal bath, so bathing is only in the en-suite bathroom, and there is no children's meal menu. It suits families who choose a stay for its location and easy-to-use rooms rather than for its facilities.

Rooms

Guest rooms are split between the standard floors (6F-14F) and the upper floors (15F and 16F), with twin, single and suite rooms as well as rooms for 4 guests. The Standard Twin is 23.08 sq m and has two beds measuring 110 cm wide by 195 cm long by 45 cm high, for 1 to 3 guests (an extra bed is used for the third guest). The Standard Fours, which sleeps 4, is 48.43 sq m with four beds and is a good choice for families. Under the summer-only Family Support Stay plan, this normally four-guest room can be booked from 3 guests. The hotel has no Japanese-style tatami room; all rooms are Western-style.

Dining

Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet served from 7:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. (last order 9:00 a.m.) at Top of Kushiro, the view restaurant on the top floor, 17F. Prices are 2,900 yen for adults, 1,900 yen for children ages 6 to 12 and 900 yen for preschool-age children ages 3 to 5. No children's meal menu is offered, and a co-sleeping child who has breakfast is charged separately. Guests with allergies to any of the 7 specified allergenic ingredients can be accommodated if they let the hotel know in advance. The restaurant is entirely non-smoking and has a private room, SKYROOM, for up to 12 people.

Family-friendly features

Co-sleeping is free for children under school age; children of elementary school age and above pay the same rate as an adult. Co-sleeping for babies and toddlers is accepted free of charge only when neither meals nor bedding are added, and bookings that include either bedding or meals cannot be accepted. Cribs and bed guards are available to borrow free of charge, but numbers are limited, so advance reservation is required. There is no communal bath or open-air bath; bathing is only in the en-suite bathroom in your room.

Access

JR Kushiro Station is about a 10-minute walk or about 3 minutes by taxi. From Kushiro Airport, the airport bus takes about 55 minutes to the Kushiro City Hall stop in front of the hotel, followed by a 1-minute walk.
