Hotel Vista Kanazawa

forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.41 out of 5 (1,374 reviews). Guests praise the fairly spacious, clean rooms and the fact that the toilet is separate from the bath. The communal bath, including its changing room, is described as roomy and comfortable, and many reviews also single out the tasty breakfast and the attentive service. Some also note that the water pressure in parts of the women's communal bath showers was weak, which may be noticeable depending on the time of day.

Overview

Hotel Vista Kanazawa is a 213-room hotel a 5-to-6-minute walk from the west exit of JR Kanazawa Station and about 15 minutes by car from the Kanazawa-nishi or Kanazawa-higashi interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. All rooms are non-smoking, and most have a separate bathtub, toilet and washbasin. On the second floor there is a communal bath called Kinu no Yu, with separate areas for men and women. Co-sleeping is available for one child under 6, and the breakfast buffet has a rate for children up to elementary school age. Parking is in an automated multi-level parking garage and requires advance reservation; vans and high-roof vehicles cannot use it.

Rooms

The hotel has 213 rooms in types to suit different party sizes, including Showered Single, Moderate Double, Superior Double, Moderate Twin, Superior Twin B and Superior Twin A. All rooms are non-smoking and come with Wi-Fi and a humidifying air purifier. Most rooms have a layout in which the bathtub, toilet and washbasin are each in their own space, making it easy to get ready in the morning. The Moderate Double is 18 sq m with one double bed 151 cm wide; the Superior Double is 20 sq m with a bed 164 cm wide; the Moderate Twin is 19 sq m with two beds 103 cm wide; the Superior Twin B is 25 sq m with two beds 123 cm wide; and the Superior Twin A is 27 sq m with two beds 123 cm wide. All of these rooms accommodate 1 to 2 guests and have children's rates. As a rule, co-sleeping is available for one child under 6 per bed.

Dining

Breakfast is a mainly Western-style buffet served at Vista Cafe, the restaurant on the second floor. The menu features local ingredients such as Hyakumangoku rice from Ishikawa Prefecture, Kaga vegetables and Kanazawa curry, and guests can also make freshly cooked pancakes on a dedicated self-service machine. Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The price is 2,500 yen for adults and 1,300 yen for children up to elementary school age, including tax, and breakfast can also be added at check-in. Room wear and slippers are not allowed in the breakfast venue, so children need to be dressed accordingly.

Baths

On the second floor is Kinu no Yu, a communal bath with separate areas for men and women. It has a silky bath created with microbubbles and a lying-down bath using water-pressure jets. It is open from 4 p.m. to midnight and from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and only staying guests may use it. The water is not onsen water, and while there is a communal bath, there is no private-hire bath. Guests may come in room wear and slippers, but no towels are provided at the bath, so bring the towels from your room. The men's communal bath has 10 washing stations and the women's has 7.

Family-friendly features

Co-sleeping is free for one child per bed. The children's amenity set, which combines the Musasabi-kun Set of a hand towel, slippers and a toothbrush with a bath towel and a face towel, is available for a fee. If a child uses a bed on their own, the adult rate applies. Slippers for young children are available to borrow at the front desk. Room wear comes in one size only, so bring your child's own sleepwear. There is no indoor or outdoor pool and no childcare service. There is one barrier-free room, and booking it requires contacting the hotel directly. Wheelchairs are also available to borrow.

Access

The hotel is a 5-minute walk from JR Kanazawa Station and about 15 minutes by car from the Kanazawa-nishi or Kanazawa-higashi interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway. The underground passage from the station has stairs, but there is an elevator toward the rear for those with large luggage or a wheelchair. Parking costs 1,100 yen per night, including tax, and requires advance reservation. Because it is an automated multi-level parking garage, vehicles must be no more than 180 cm high, 175 cm wide and 505 cm long, and vans, RVs and high-roof vehicles cannot use it.
