Under the guidance of local residents, participants cut the rice and hang it to dry in the sun, then enjoy a boxed lunch while looking out over the terraces. The fee is 1,500 yen per person, including tax, for junior high school students and older.

Overview
Fairfield by Marriott Mie Kumano Kodo Mihama is an accommodation-focused hotel next to the Park Shichirimihama roadside station, which stands along the Hamakaido route of the World Heritage Kumano Kodo. All 63 rooms are 25 sq m twin or king rooms with Simmons beds and a shower booth. One child of elementary school age or younger may co-sleep free of charge per adult, but children's amenities are not provided. There is no restaurant, communal bath, onsen or pool on the property; instead, meals can be covered with a breakfast box, the shop and the free-drink service.

The hotel has 63 rooms, compact at an average of 25 sq m. There are two types, both non-smoking: the twin room (25 sq m, with two beds 120 cm wide) and the king room (25 sq m, with one bed 180 cm wide). Both accommodate 1 to 2 guests. The beds are made by Simmons to support a good night's sleep, and rooms include free Wi-Fi, a 49-inch television, a refrigerator and a safe. The bathroom has a shower booth only, with no bathtub.
Dining
There is no restaurant on the property. If you would like breakfast, choose a plan that includes a breakfast box, and the hotel will prepare one using Kishu ingredients, such as mehari-zushi, Kumano beef sukiyaki and a dashimaki rolled omelet made with Kumano eggs. Only one type of breakfast is offered, and advance reservation is required. Pick it up at the front desk between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. On room-only plans, the first-floor lobby lounge offers free coffee, tea and miso soup, and a microwave and ice machine are also available. The shop, called the Market Place, sells light meals including frozen soups from Soup Stock Tokyo.
Baths
There is no communal bath, onsen or private-hire bath, so guests bathe in the shower booth in their room. There are also no rooms with an open-air bath and no onsen water flowing directly from the source.
Family-friendly points
One child of elementary school age or younger may co-sleep free of charge per adult. If a child uses bedding on their own, the adult rate applies. Children's amenities are not provided, so please bring what you need. If the number of children co-sleeping exceeds what is permitted, additional rooms may be required on the day.
