About Yumoto Station

Yumoto Station is a JR Joban Line station in Joban Yumoto-machi, Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture. It opened on February 25, 1897. The ticket gate window is staffed from the first train to the last train. There is no Midori no Madoguchi (JR staffed ticket office), but there are reserved-seat ticket machines and multifunction ticket machines. Right outside the station on the right, you will find Aiyu Monogatari, a footbath fed directly by a natural hot spring source, where travelers relax while waiting for their trains. About a 5-minute walk from the station, the Iwaki Yumoto Onsen area spreads out. It is counted among Japan's Three Ancient Hot Springs.

Travel tips

The footbath in front of the station is free and open 24 hours, so you can have your child sit and rest there between legs of your trip. Because there is no Midori no Madoguchi, the usual way to get Shinkansen (bullet train) or limited express tickets is to reserve through Ekinet and pick them up at the reserved-seat ticket machine. On days when you have a lot of luggage, the coin lockers let you set out on foot without the extra load.
