Suzutoyo Shikinejima

Suzutoyo, on the island of Shikinejima, is an island inn about a 5-minute walk from Tomari Beach and close to Nobushi Port.

It is usually a fishing inn where anglers gather, but the warm, easygoing atmosphere also welcomes guests who come to take it slow and travelers on their own. Dads who love to fish and children who want to play in the sea can each spend island time their own way.

The guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, so you can lay a small child down on the tatami or sleep side by side as a family with room to spare. It is a homey inn, comfortable even on a first island trip.

The location is another plus. Tomari Beach, just nearby, forms a circular cove, so the waves are very gentle and the water stays shallow far out. It is the most popular swimming beach on Shikinejima and ideal for a child's first swim in the sea. You can play in the water and then head back to the inn for a rest.

Shikinejima also has free onsen in the sea, dotted around the island, that you can enter in a swimsuit. Jinata Onsen, where the water temperature shifts with the tides, the seaside open-air bath Matsugashita Miyabiyu, and Ashitsuki Onsen, shallow and easy for children to get into, all pair well with a day at the sea.

Getting here takes about 2 minutes by car from Nobushi Port. Let the inn know your boat when you come to the island and someone will meet you at the port.
