About Little World

Little World is an open-air museum of world homes and daily life, straddling Inuyama City in Aichi Prefecture and Kani City in Gifu Prefecture. Along a loop path of about 2.5 km, 31 houses from 23 countries and regions have been relocated or reconstructed. The everyday tools inside the homes are authentic items collected on site. The main building just past the entrance holds about 6,000 items gathered from more than 70 countries and regions, divided into five rooms: Evolution, Technology, Language, Society, and Values. You can also try dishes and buy souvenirs from around the world, and try on more than 30 kinds of traditional ethnic costumes. There are easy, fun activities for all ages too, such as fortune slips (omikuji), archery play, and an animal plaza. With 1.23 million square meters of grounds, you can spend a whole day traveling the world.

Travel tips

The official website recommends starting with the main building exhibits, just to the left after you enter. The outdoor loop path is about 2.5 km, so with small children, combining your walk with the hop-on, hop-off in-park bus can cut down on walking. Coin lockers, parking, and the general information office accept cash only, so be sure to bring cash.

Best season

The exhibits are mostly outdoors, but the main building is indoors, so on rainy days you can focus your visit there. Every year, "World Summer Night" is held, with opening hours changed to 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and featuring fire performances and fireworks. In autumn there is also a Halloween costume event just for children. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons in the base area.
